Anything from 1GB/2GB 5870 crossfire (some games it outperforms 5970) as ur fried card is still a strong performer (WTE stop frying ur gpus lol).
Maybe wait for the 5990 (June/July) or go for nvidia's 480 as its cheaper. I like ati's 5970, but too expensive. With a budget you need to compromise or save up more.

Looks like I'm going to be needing to get myself a new gfx card after my current one fried. Anyone have any recomendations? Working on helpdesk has somewhat forced my eye off the ball gfx wise. Card that fried was an Ati HD 4870 X2. I want something comparible for around £3-400

Ati Tip: If the new 10.5 drivers didn't sort out map loads, then add your BC2 folder from within My Docs to your Anti-virus exceptions.
Add it anyway as it won't do any harm.

Tech: You can now get a Ati 5970 for under £500 for those with a need for speed. The Sapphire 5970 2GB is now £480 (cheapest I found on quick search) >> (link)
